The last day of January.
A snowy full moon for Imbolc.
Starting this new blog space is slightly hilarious (or just unhinged) because I'm also simultaneously reading multiple books, writing in at least 3 other journals, 2 different planners, a substack and my new personal grimoire.
but TBH— books, paper, stickers, gel pens, binders, zines, print-outs, watercolors, collage... have always been part of my personal essence. When I graduated college I thought I was going to be a wedding invitation designer. I can never pass up a visit to the stationary shops when traveling and I think the reality of my numerology for this year (and next) have inspired me to lean deeper into my truest hobbies and the whims of my inner-tween... while treating our time in the states as if we are just visiting from our real home in Senegal.
At the moment there's at least six or seven inches of snow and its actively falling quite heavily, blowing wildly in multiple directions. My car is buried. Our home has a non-asthetic, colorful library, messy artist energy. I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on audible and promised the boys I won't play it again until next winter lmao — but this is my version of homeschooling and I'm preparing them to be able to play HP Trivial Pursuit with me in the future :)
This first month of the year has actually been really amazing in the most mundane ways. I'm on Day 13 of a super soft sadhana in preparation for Ramadan... endlessly weaving and pushing nothing.
For my birthday this year I wanted to get kittens. I also wanted to get my nose pierced, but that hasn't happened yet ;) I'd been thinking about 2 for a while and when we went to see what kitties were available to adopt we found that these were listed as a bonded pair that needed to stay together and it felt meant to be.
Their names are sun & moon, but maybe also lilo and stitch, the boys keep changing their minds. I love them both, they're definitely working their kitty magic on our home.
I've always kept a folder of the excess pieces I cut out for my altered books, but it's been a few years since I've had the desire to pull them out again. I also have no magazine subscriptions at the moment because we were overseas, but this year I may get back to it... I described it to an elder friend as if all my previous vision boards had/have essentially come to be and I need to make new ones.
okay bye xx
